These things are what greet Carlos Oliveira once again steps into the world of survival horror. At least in my mind they do. But more on that later. I feel this would be as good a time as any to introduce myself. My name is Ben Doherty, 18 years old, avid resident evil fanatic and possessor of a deeply obsessive nature. From the first moment I laid eyes upon the ghastly, blood-drenched face as it turned from it's meal of Kenneth's face in Resident Evil 1 and felt a deep fear course through me I have been mesmerized by the world of survival horror which Capcom created in their infinite wisdom. Although perhaps their wisdom is not such an infinite, unwavering thing. You see, despite succeeding in making an excellent game with RE5, they failed to make a good Resident Evil. The game missed out on those two vital aspects which the very name of the proposed genre implies - SURVIVAL and HORROR. There was never an opportunity for which the game to instill fear in me, for I was always too well-equipped and had a battle-capable partner with me at all times. I felt unstoppable; and as we know RE fans, simply will not do. I am not attacking the change of camera angle, controls, etc. because I love RE4. It stills contains the key RE elements, those being a scary atmosphere and a sense of hopelessness. Oh and also a bit of darkness. Fucking hell RE5 was so bright all the time! But I digress. I feel that there is no reason that the Las Plagas being the new B.O.W in question should change the survival horror aspect of the series. I don't believe that you can slate RE4 because when you think about it, they were only trying to explore their art and try and do something new with the genre. Remember how revolutionary and different RE1 was? Imagine if they had been denied the chance to explore a new way of playing (RE1 was originally going to be an FPS). In this blog I would like to detail my idea for a RE game and to get some feedback and see if it what other fans would like, Then maybe we could change the direction that Capcom is taking our beloved franchise. I am fully aware that I have far too much time on my hands but I felt that I could no longer hold back the boundaries of my imagination. So step into my mind. . . and once again enter the world of survival horror. . .
